JERUSALEM - Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni attacked U.S. president-elect Barack Obama on Thursday for declaring a willingness to talk with Iran about its nuclear program.
"We live in a neighbourhood in which sometimes dialogue . . . is liable to be interpreted as weakness," Livni told Israeli Radio, expressing a view held by many of her countrymen.
Asked if she supported discussions between the U.S. and Iran, Livni said: "No."

I think Livni has to take this stance. As much of the rest of the world doesn't get it.
Israel knows from past experiences because of their location and the constant barrage of threats they get from the rest of the Middle East. A strong stance is absolutely necessary. Israel has to be more militaristic than the US and other nations because its security is CONSTANTLY being threatened.
I only hope Barack Obama does not act haphazardly on behalf of the United States to get involved in the Israel-Iran situation.
Ahmadinejad will try to take advantage of Obama's lack of knowledge of the conflict and Obama's willingness to sit down with "enemies" and will ultimately make empty promises.
Obama's best stance would be to back away and let Israel take care of its own affairs.
